Bell 500 Custom Helmet

Heyya..

With the new Harley Davidson Road Glide, i have decided to change my riding attire..

I bought the Bell 500 Custom with Matte Black colour from HHE Motorsports in Section 7, Shah Alam..

It costs RM800.. You may find the Bell 500 Custom helmet cheaper on internet but this is my first Bell helmet and i had no clues on Bell sizes..
I didn't wanna risk by ordering wrong size, hence i had to try the Small Size and Medium Size and it seems the Medium fits me perfectly..

Usually i wear Small Size for fullface helmet and enduro helmet.. But my previous Nolan open-face helmet, i learned my mistakes by buying Small size..

Open-face helmet do not have air ventilation duct so it has to be slightly larger size than what fits my head.. With the Small size Nolan helmet, there is no air ventilation and i do get sweat on my head..

It comes in a red box and red helmet bag / dust cover..

Here comes the Matte Black!
The Bell 500 Custom helmet is DOT approved.. the inner pads are washable and easily to be removed and re-assembled.. Bell gives 5-Year Warranty for the helmet..

Vance & Hines Stainless Hi-Output 2-into-1 Pipes

Heyya..
Next week, my Harley Davidson Road Glide will be out..
In this week, the Harley mechanics will be installing Vance & Hines Stainless Hi-Output 2-into-1 Pipes..

From Vance & Hines official website:

"Stainless Hi-Output 2-into-1 breaks new ground, applying premium materials and no-compromises performance tuning for heavily modified motors, with an unmistakable “works” finish that says "this bike was built for racing".

Continually pushing the performance envelope, Stainless Hi-Output 2-into-1, available for 2009-2012 Harley-Davidson Touring models, starts with tapered head pipes with an oversized merge collector and feeds into a multi-stepped megaphone.
Every aspect of the Stainless Hi-Output 2-into-1 has been developed and tested through countless hours of dyno time with the singular focus to increase volumetric efficiency critical to extracting maximum horsepower from high output engine modifications."

The Hi-Output 2-into-1 is a exhaust system which consists of:

  • 1.75-inch to 2-inch of Header / Manifold pipes
  • 2.5-inch Inlet to Megaphone
  • 3-inch to 3.25-inch Baffle with Anti-Reversion Cone
  • 4-inch to 4.5-inch Stepped Muffler Body
The System includes the Header / Manifold pipes so i'm expecting there will be some increase in HP.. The craftsmanship, welding is solid and beautiful.. plus the noise will be produced through the only one 4.5-inch muffler body should be packed with loud and full of bass... not ricey..
I found attachment files on Facebook from a Road Glide owner (Clarence Mckimy) in the States where he just did Dyno run on his Road Glide.. he has installed Vance & Hines Power Duals Headers and Hi-Output slip-on along with high-flow air filter, which i already installed on my Road Glide FLTRX too.. As the result, these pipes managed to increase the bike performance up to 10.8 BHP and 18.3 Nm of Torque on 4th Gear..
Horsepower Comparison

Torque Comparison
I bought the Vance & Hines Hi-Output 2-into-1 Full System from Bikes World Hamawangsa at Glenmarie, Shah Alam.. if you're interested for having this fine exhaust system, you may ask for Khairul from Bikes World.. he has a wide knowledge on Harley Davidson.. Top Man!

Alpinestars Ridge Waterproof Boots

Heyya...

Earlier today, I've received a parcel from Budak Singapore as i've purchased the Alpinestars Ridge waterproof boots for RM900 including P&P from Singapore..

Previously, i never had a thought for having a waterproof boots as i am always comfortable with my Gaerne Cypher Motocross boots and my trustworthy Ever Last shoes..

After all, if i travel to Koh Samui, Krabi or any Southern Thailand region, i need a pair of boots which are waterproof, which match with my Clover waterproof riding pants and i feel comfortable to walk with..

Somehow, i need a pair of three quarter waterproof boots which look great with a pair of jeans, i.e. people will not notice it is a pair of motorcycle boots...  so i can wear them to functions, events and also meeting my clients with a pair of jeans..

The Ridge boots are very comfortable... they are 3 1/4 medium-cut boots and they give good enough of protection on ankles and both feet.. so far, i've seen the Ridge boots have been reviewed brilliantly on the internet and youtube videos..

Don't ya think they look great?

And they look like normal boots and you cannot even notice they are riding boots, can ya?

Hoo-Fookin'-Rahh!!

Anyway, i have tested the Scott Voltage OTG goggles, Alpinestars Jet motocross gloves, tank bag and Scott-Oiler vSystem... Overall, they work really great for me..

Scott Voltage OTG goggles (300 km of mileage tested)
Pros:
- Works great with my glasses on
- fits perfectly in Arai Tour Cross II
- fits nicely on my face without any empty gap and not pressing too hard on my cheeks
- No fog at all, even at traffic jam
- Useful in rain, no fog built-up and water does not stay on the lens
- Definitely works very well at night time!!

Cons:
- It limits my 'side' vision.. hence, i need to turn my head more to ensure no vehicles beside me
- If i ride more than 140 km/h, wind starts to press my lips and eventually air starts to enter the tiny mesh sponges, which penetrates to my eyes
- Wind noise
- Uncomfortable ride in heavy rain as rain drops hit my nose & lips at 140 km/h... now that's fookin' painful!

Alpinestars Jet motocross gloves (300 km of mileage tested)
Pros:
- super lightweight comparing with leather gloves
- thin fingertips surface makes it easy to feel objects, i.e. money, iPod, etc etc
- feels cool, even at traffic jam
- easy to dry-off when wet after heavy rain

Cons:
- less protection than leather gloves
- feels thumper vibration more as the palm surface is thin

Scott-Oiler vSystem (1,500 km of mileage tested)
Pros:
- Chain is always lubricated
- Save time and space for not using & carrying chain lubricant container
- Lasts 5,000 km per re-filled tube container

Tank bag (1,500 km of mileage tested)
Pros:
- Waterproof 'with rain cover', tested in 350 km of heavy tropical thunderstorm
- Amazingly useful to keep road maps, mobile phones, wallet, passport, iPod, etc etc
- Huge magnets, hence tank bag stays tight and securely upright
- Medium-Small size
- will be my Olympus E-P1 camera bag
- Looks fookin' great on KLR 650 Redbull Dakar

Accessories: Scott Voltage OTG Goggles + Alpinestars JET Gloves

Heyya...

Most of you who have been following me on Facebook surely know i've gone to Singapore for Great Singapore Sale during the recent weekend..

Anyway, i bought Scott Voltage OTG goggles and Alpinestars JET motocross gloves..

Initially, i have once ordered the Scott Voltage OTG goggles from the US but it costed too expensive due to shipping cost (USD 96.00).. therefore i bought a pair in Singapore and it costs RM 110.00, bloody cheap!! It was on sale and they had only Canary Yellow colour, which is the only colour that suits with my bike and i can fookin' show-off to people that i've got a pair of great goggles! Oooweee!! ;-)

Once i reached home, i tested the goggles on my Arai Tour Cross II helmet with glasses on... the goggle fits very well and after 1 hour wearing it with no air ventilation, it does NOT develop any fog on the Scott lens and also my glasses.. Also, i don't have to remove the Arai's tinted visor lid...

The main reasons why i bought the Scott Voltage OTG (Over The Glass) are because I wear glasses and I always ride in the dark (as early as 3 o'clock in the morning) & thus I always have to use clear visor.. but when it is dawn, i have to change the clear visor to dark visor... the interchange takes ages and Goggles look very Cool with motocross helmet! With the Scott OTG goggles, i would wear them in the dark and take them off when i need to use the tinted dark visor... ;-P

Also, i bought a pair of Alpinestars JET gloves since my Dainese leather gloves are torn apart... The JET gloves are made of synthetic materials, which are light weight and easy to dry off when it gets wet/soaked in rain.. and it costs RM 100.00 for a pair... the finger tips are quite thin which may help me to 'feel' on my finger tips, i.e. money notes, road maps, camera, helmet chin strap, etc without taking them off...

I shall test the Goggles and Gloves performances tomorrow for at least 200 km ride.. i'm hoping if there could be raining too.. ;-)

Therefore, back to the checklist which i made back in December 2009, i have got the Acerbis Handguards, Scott-Oiler and Scott Voltage OTG goggles... You may find the previous story (December 2009) here: Scott-Oiler, Scott Voltage OTG Goggles and Acerbis Handguards

Accessories: Scott Oiler and Tank Bag

Heyya..

I just got back from Sunny Cycle to install Scott Oiler and also bought a tank bag...

I got the Scott Oiler from Sunny Cycle for a special deal, at RM460.00 including installation/labour cost... It is a newer version of Scott Oiler, which is V-System.. it took JingSheng almost 30 minutes to install it...

"Scottoiler V-System Oiler
The Scottoiler vSystem utilises a gravity system that cleans and lubricates the chain as you ride meaning that more time can be spent riding instead of maintaining your bike. It absorbs no power, does not affect the engine, has no wearing parts and is easily fitted to almost any motorcycle.
"

As for the Tank Bag, i bought a Small size tank bag.. the reason i bought Small is because KLR 650 tank surface is very small... Therefore, a bigger tank bag would not have as much as magnetic grip as a small tank bag...

To me, as long as the tank bag has a see-through plastic cover, i'll be happy as i can put a road map underneath of it.. also, i'll be getting Olympus PEN E-P1 camera and i need a bag to keep it...

I used to keep my Point & Shoot camera in my riding pants pocket as it is a slim camera but i can't keep the PEN E-P1 Micro 4/3 SLR camera in my riding pants...

Hence, i need a tank bag and it'll be easier for me to shoot when i stop by the road side without taking it out of my Top Box at rear... Not forgetting, i can keep my wallet, passport, mobile phone, iPod and some documents in it.. The tank bag costs only RM120.00 and it comes with a sling and rain cover..

Also, the tank bag looks brilliant when it is off the bike... it can also be my Olympus PEN E-P1 camera bag... ;-)
